Facts about the U.S. Program:
Volunteers serve for 1 year in a U.S. placement.

Mercy Volunteers serve in 9 cities across the United States including New York City (NY), Philadelphia (PA), Baltimore (MD), Erie (PA), Savannah (GA), Detroit (MI), St. Michaels (AZ), Sacramento (CA), Anthony (NM).

U.S. Volunteers begin service in early August with Mercy Volunteer Corps Orientation and finish the following July. 

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Priority Deadline- March 1
• Final Deadline- June 1

Interviews are set up in an applicant’s geographic area.

Meet Some U.S. Volunteers


Matt Lorenzo graduated from Saint Xavier University, a Mercy College in Chicago.  Matt volunteered with MVC in Cincinnati, OH at Nativity Parish where he spent his days serving at the food pantry, working with the children in the parish school, visiting the elderly and teaching guitar at an arts center.

Dottie and Skip Glover, from Erie, PA, volunteered with Mercy Volunteer Corps in Philadelphia before settling into retirement.   Dottie served at Calcutta House, a residence for men and women living with AIDS.  Skip served at Bethesda Project, a supportive housing program for homeless men.

Meet Some U.S. Volunteers

Renee Gravois, a graduate of Louisiana State University, served with Mercy Volunteer Corps in St. Louis, MO.  Renee’s site, Center for Women in Transition, assisted women who had been incarcerated and are transitioning back into society.  Renee also spent time at McAuley clinic.


Anna Gibson,  a graduate of The University of North Carolina, served with Mercy Volunteer Corps in New York City at Mercy Home working with adults with disabilities.

Maura Trail, a graduate of James Madison University, served in Detroit, MI.  Maura spent part of her week at Matrix Theater Company, a theater that builds community and fosters social justice.  Maura spent the other part of her week at Mercy Education Project which provides educational support to girls and women.
